Fitting, Care & Cleaning

Cleaning your Mite Guard Rx Protectors

Mite Guard Rx bedding has an Easy Care system. You don’t need to dry clean, iron or bleach. Just wash your bedding using a Machine Wash at 60 degrees Celsius and a cool tumble dry. Mite Guard protectors should be fitted to every pillow, quilt and mattress in order to place a barrier between you and the dust mites and their allergies. Allergy sufferers especially, should have this protection on all bedding in their rooms. Mite Guard bedding reduces the need for regular hot washing of quilts and pillows and allows you to use natural fillers for your bedding, such as feathers or wool.

Handling Mite Guard Rx Protectors

It is very important that you purchase the right size of Mite Guard Rx product, as tearing may occur (due to undue material stress) if you attempt to fit a product too small for your bedding.  For correct sizing please refer to the measurements listed on our Shop Online page.  Ideally two people should fit the Mite Guard Rx mattress protector*. This should be done by lifting the mattress at one end and then gently sliding the protector over.

* please remember to watch your back and don’t strain yourself lifting your mattress up.

Can Dust Mite Allergies Affect Your Sleep and Quality of Life?
House dust mites can be minute but they are the most common cause of indoor allergies. The dust mites live in your household, in beddings, carpeting and mattresses. There are things you can do regularly to reduce the amount of mites in your bedding, such as regular hot washing, but it is not possible to completely eliminate them. A study showed that allergies can harm sleep patterns and the degree of harm relates directly to the severity of the allergy symptoms. This in turn decreases productivity at school or work, leading to weakened memory and learning, depression and a reduction in the quality of life. Mite Guard Rx bedding puts a barrier between you and the dust mites, letting you sleep better and breathe easier.
